Two Italian classics from Lidl this week. Gavi is a town, a wine region and a wine from Piemonte in northwest Italy. The grape used to make the wines is cortese, a variety almost exclusive to the Gavi region.
Chianti is one of the most famous wine regions of Tuscany in central Italy. The main grape here is Sangiovese, a variety that can produce some world-class wines in the right hands. Riserva means that the wine has been aged for a minimum of two years in oak barrels and is a minimum of 12.5% abv.
