The Fishamble theatre company is appealing for the return of its highly prized Olivier award which was stolen during a break-in at their Dublin offices over the weekend.
Though a number of items were taken during the robbery at their Great Denmark Street office in Dublin 1, all of which the company would like to retrieve, its Olivier award has a “particularly special place in their hearts and on their mantlepiece”, it said in a statement on Tuesday.
Fishamble: The New Play Company won the award in 2016 for the play Silent, described as “a brave, bleak, beautiful production” about homeless man McGoldrig who once had it all but lost it all – including his mind. Written and performed by Pat Kinevane and directed by Jim Culleton, it toured internationally.
Fishamble is the only Irish theatre company to have won an Olivier – regarded as the most prestigious award in British theatre.
