In terms of their back catalogue, Kraftwerk's Radio-Activity is often overlooked in favour of the albums that came before (Autobahn) and after (Trans-Europe Express) its release in 1975.

For its 40th anniversary, composer Franck Vigroux, pianist Matthew Bourne and installation artist Antoine Schmitt decided the album deserved a re-evaluation and their Radioland project took the form of a live performance experience last March followed by this album release.

The collaborators take the album’s key points and rework them as new interpretations.

Bourne has spoken about the "slick cleanliness" of the original sound and much of Radioland's recalibration of the album, with jazz motifs and shapes creating moments like Airwaves.
