Track of the week: Instruction by Jax Jones, Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don
Another week, another Demi Lovato track of the week. Friends, it is indeed summer. First of all, this track conforms to Song of the Summer status by listing very simple dance instructions. Secondly, it features Demi declaiming her badass status and telling others to do likewise. It’s just as good at pumping you up before a meeting as it is getting you on to the dancefloor. Simply put, it’s a banger.
Hero of the week is Danielle Haim who told the BBC: "There's so many amazing women that work in music and I think it's time more girls looked into being engineers and studio technicians. I think there's the feeling that we are coming together now and we want to make a difference and we want to inspire women."
Meanwhile, Lana del Rey has found a way to cope with fame, she told Pitchfork. "It takes so much footwork. Getting over the uncomfortability of being the one person in the room who everyone recognizes. The last few years, I'm out all the time: clubs, bars, shows. For years I was more quietly in the mix, always through the back door, do not tell anyone I'm coming. And now I've relaxed into it where I'll just show up. I don't need a special ticket. I'll just go sit wherever. It feels a little more like I'm myself again.
Zero of the week was the LGBT-awareness at his school, Olly Years and Years told the Evening Standard: "I think I knew I was gay from a very young age, probably in primary school. By secondary school I was just in denial. It wasn't until I was 18 or 19 that I fully accepted it and came out to my friends and my mum." He went on, "I went to a bog-standard comprehensive school, and there wasn't such a thing as LGBT people – they just didn't exist. There was no inclusive sex or relationship education – I feel like that really would have helped me."
