Young Fathers
Electric Arena
****
A Young Fathers set starts like a death march. Sinister, intense and furious, courtesy of the thudding drums that coat their music. The Scottish group reach down into their darkest depths - and the back of their throats - with the high-pitched and reverberating war cries of Queen is Dead.
They come in heavy with that, you know, their foreboding sense of doom as they stare the crowd down, holding their bodies rigid, but in a flicker of a second, that mood can lift.
Smiles creep across their faces during Get Up, their call for a revolution. Their moody stance can sometimes be a misfire but tonight they are hitting the right tone.
Gig in three words: Thundering, menacing, heavy
