And the Point Depot’s new name is...

Mobile network sponsor reveals new branding for Dublin music venue

For some it will always be just The Point or even The Point Depot. It has more recently been the O2 but from now on it will become known as the 3Arena.

The O2 signage on top of the Dublin music venue was removed yesterday following Three Ireland's acquisition of the rival mobile network.

Three Ireland this week formally completed its €780 million takeover, more than a year after the deal was announced. A construction crane yesterday plucked the O2 sign from the top of the premises ahead of an announcement this morning.

The 13,500 capacity venue owned by Live Nation is set to play host to Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, Ennio Morricone, Imelda May, The Who and Peter Gabriel in the coming months.
