Twelve years after being made redundant, David Brent played by Ricky Gervais is now a travelling salesman for a feminine hygiene products company, but still harbouring dreams of rock stardom in his new film 'David Brent: Life On The Road'. Video: BBC

Get ready to cringe, David Brent is back. Twelve years after being made redundant by Wernham Hogg Paper Company, Brent is a travelling salesman job for a feminine hygiene products company, but he still harbours dreams of rock stardom. So he packs in his job, cashes in his pension and takes his band, Foregone Conclusion, on the road for one last stab at the big time.

Will Brent find the adulation he's has always craved? According to Gervais, the "film delves much more into his private life than The Office ever did, and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man." So success, then, is far from assured.

As a warn-up for the movie, check out this thsi inaugural performance by David Brent &  Foregone Conclusion, performing their "megaracial anti-racist" classic Equality Street.
