A person of interest to gardaí has voluntarily come forward and made a statement over the hit-and-run incident on the Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin on Sunday night.

A man in his 40s, a pedestrian, was left with serious injuries following the incident at 8.45pm on Sunday when the driver failed to remain at the scene.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and the man was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital where he is in a stable condition.

Gardaí are not looking for any other vehicle in relation to the incident, but are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Those with camera footage, including motorists with dashcam footage, from the area at the time are asked to provide it to investigating gardaí.
