A sixth person has been charged with murdering a father-of-seven in a graveyard in Tralee, Co Kerry some 18 months ago.
Daniel Dooley (42), of An Carraigín, Connolly Park, Tralee, appeared before a District Court sitting in Listowel charged with the murder of Thomas Dooley on October 5th, 2022.
Det Garda John Gilmartin told the court he arrested Mr Dooley in Wilton, Cork at 7am on Thursday. He said the accused told him ‘I shouldn’t be here; I’m an innocent man’ when the charge was put to him.
Patrick Mann, solicitor for Mr Dooley, said his client was a widower, a father-of three and was on a disability payment. Mr Mann said he would be making a bail application in the High Court for the accused. He also asked that any necessary medical treatment be given to his client.

Judge Philip O’Leary granted the legal aid application and ordered that any necessary medical treatment be provided. He remanded Mr Dooley is custody to appear before Tralee District Court next Wednesday.
Five men have already been charged with the murder of Thomas Dooley from Hazelwood Drive, Killarney, who was fatally injured when he was attacked by a group of men while attending a friend’s funeral in Tralee. Mr Dooley died at the scene and his wife, Siobhán, was seriously injured.
