Twelve known international fugitives have been arrested in Ireland in connection with various alleged crimes linked to assisting murder, drugs and organised crime.
Gardaí said those arrested posed a risk to local communities.
No information was released on the suspects or their crimes but all have been brought before the Extradition High Court in Dublin and are due to reappear at a later date.
“The purpose of the operation over the last number of days was to locate and arrest fugitives, with a focus on those fugitives who pose a risk to local communities,” said Detective Superintendent Michael Mullen of the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI).
