Irish-managed Bahrain Duty Free earned profits of almost $9 million (€8 million) in the six months to the end of June, according to its latest figures.
Bahrain Duty Free, which is managed by State-owned Aer Rianta International, said that sales rose to $37 million in the first half of this year from $36 million during the same period in 2015.
Profits at the Bahrain International Airport company fell to $9 million in the six months to the end of June from $13 million during the comparable period in 2015, largely because last year’s figures benefited from a once-off gain from the sale of some assets.
Aer Rianta International, which is a subsidiary of DAA, runs Bahrain Duty Free and owns a stake of less than 2 per cent in the quoted company.
The Irish company specialises in airport shopping, and has joint ventures and management agreements with duty free companies in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
