Turnover at Crewlink Ireland, which is involved mostly in providing cabin crew staff to Ryanair, saw its turnover grow by 10 per cent in 2014, to €55.1 million, recently-filed accounts show.

The company produced a pre-tax loss of €17,416, though the accounts show major transactions with related companies which have yet to file accounts. Among the related party transactions was a €1.9 million payment to Cabin Crew Europe Ltd, for the provision of "operational services". The owners of Crewlink own 50 per cent of Cabin Crew Europe. Crewlink is based in the Southern Cross Business Park in Bray, Co Wicklow, and is owned by Frank Whelan and Judy Byrne by way of a company called Occam Management Ltd. A request for comment was declined.

Leading recruitment agency

The company’s website describes it as the leading recruitment agency for Ryanair and the airline’s website refers people who are interested in a cabin crew position to the websites of Crewlink and another Irish recruitment agency, Dalmac. Dalmac describes itself as “the official recruitment and training partner” of Ryanair.

The recruitment agencies hold open days around Europe and the cost of six-week training courses organised by them can be deducted from employees’ salaries during the first year of employment, according to the Ryanair website.
