A solar-powered robotic mirror may be the answer to seasonal affective disorder or even the solution to dim lighting in your corner cubical at work. Lucy, developed by Italian tech company Solenica, has a sensor that detects sunlight, which is then reflected back into the room. This reflected light is diffuse so there's no danger of a magnifying-glass effect.

When Lucy is placed near a window with her “nose” pointed towards the ceiling, she will scatter light around the room, automatically tracking the sun’s position throughout the day to ensure constant illumination.

This little spherical robot will come with an app that detects the brightness index, providing updates on how well your home is lit. Lucy isn’t on sale yet but it is possible to sign up for updates and pre-order.
