A Chinese company that develops online games bid more than €2 million for what must be the most expensive Buffet lunch in history.

Zhu Ye, head of Beijing- based Dalian Zeus Entertainment, bid $2,345,678 (€2,077,310) on eBay to win a meal with Warren Buffett in an online auction for a San Francisco charity that helps the homeless.

Buffett (84), chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway, is a legendary investor and philanthropist, and advice from the "Oracle of Omaha" is much sought after.

"It's a dream come true," Zhu told the China Securities Times. He said he would look for Buffet's opinions on value investing, and insisted he wouldn't be putting the bill on expenses.

The lunches take place either in Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York City, or in one of Mr Buffett's own favourite chophouses in Omaha, Nebraska.

Mr Buffett has numerous links to China. Along with Microsoft's Bill Gates, he has actively encouraged China's growing army of super-rich to get into the concept of charitable donations.
