Three Ireland and the Indian firm Tech Mahindra are to create 130 new jobs with the opening of a new customer service centre in Waterford.
The centre is expected to become operational in early 2015 and recruitment is already underway.
Three said the 56 former employees of Rigney Dolphin, which previously supplied customer contact services to Three in Wateford, will be given the opportunity to apply for the new positions.
Tech Mahindra is a $3.2 billion company that provides customer care services for 632 companies across the world, including Three. The company, which is part of the Mahindra Group, employs 92,000 people.
"This announcement will enhance Three's customer service operations and bring valuable jobs to the Waterford area. We have already announced an additional 90 full-time positions at the Three customer care centre in Limerick, bringing the total employees there to 440. These new positions in Waterford will bolster our operations and help us to deliver market-leading support and services to our customers. We have an ambition to deliver the ultimate customer service experience and this is a great step towards achieving that ambition," said Three chief executive Robert Finnegan.
