If you were a bit taken aback when Microsoft got into making its own tablets, then you must have been really shocked when it became known that the company is bringing out its own line of laptops. At its launch, the company described the Surface Book as the ultimate laptop. Not only does it work well as a laptop – a 13.5 inch screen, i5 or i7 processor, solid-state drive and up to 16GB of RAM – it also multitasks as a tablet. The Surface Book can either fold the keyboard behind the screen, thanks to a complex-looking hinge, or detach it completely and use the touchscreen to its full potential. No doubt Microsoft is hoping that the Surface Books will inspire the same loyalty that the MacBook has for Apple. Time will tell. microsoft.com
