AirSpeed Telecom has signed a €100,000 deal with Manor Farm Chickens to install and maintain a managed wide-area network for the business.
Manor Farm is one of Europe’s largest fresh chicken producers, producing more than 850,000 fresh chickens weekly.
The company, headquartered in Clonee, Co Meath, supplies into major retailers across Ireland and the UK.
Manor Farm IT manager Sean Hartnett said connectivity and capacity across the company’s three sites had dramatically improved as a result.
He said that previously the low bandwidth and unreliable connectivity were a major hindrance to productivity across the entire enterprise.
“The bandwidth restrictions we’d been working under were so severe that staff had to consider which location they needed to be at depending on system access requirements,” said Mr Hartnett.
AirSpeed Telecom managing director Liam O’Kelly said it was “fantastic to enable one of Ireland’s oldest companies to revolutionise its IT system” and as a result dramatically improve its productivity.
AirSpeed Telecom provides business broadband services countrywide, notably in rural parts of the country such as the Aran islands.
Its clients include RTÉ, Dairygold, Irish Distillers, UDG Healthcare and Vhi Healthcare.
Mr O’Kelly was last year named Entrepreneur of the Year at the European Business Awards.
