Ecocem Ireland, a cement company based at Dublin Port, has said it will create 61 jobs in a new plant at the port. Ecocem plans to hire 25 new staff, with a further 36 indirect jobs being created though other Irish-based suppliers. The new plant will be used to bag the company’s eco-friendly cement.

The company’s expansion will form part of a three-year €91 million investment programme.

Ecocem says its cement reduces the carbon footprint of traditional cement by more than 50 per cent.

The €19 million investment includes a €5 million spend on machinery and infastructure already made by the company. Ecocem hopes its plans will lead to growth in export markets including Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
