Ireland’s largest retail trade event gives start-up food suppliers access to 1,000 retailers

Indigenous and multinational producers will be able to pitch their wares at major event

Independent retailers from the across the country will have the opportunity to meet more than 150 suppliers, indigenous and multinational, at Ireland’s largest retail trade event this Wednesday.

The event, which is taking place in the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, is expected to attract more than 1,000 independent retailers .

BWG Foods, operators of the Spar, Eurospar, Londis, Mace, and XL brands, will stage the trading day to give suppliers exclusive access to sell to local independent retailers across its entire network of stores, with a combined annual turnover of €1.75 billion.

Over 150 suppliers, spanning categories including health & wellness, fresh food, pre-prepared meals, chilled produce, beverages and confectionary, will receive access to the retailers.

For the first time the event will also feature a supplier start-up zone, hosting emerging food businesses, including the Delicious Food Company, Boost Bites and the Cupcake Bloke.

BWG Group chief executive Leo Crawford said the event had firmly established itself as a key feature in the retail calendar and was now the industry's leading retailer-supplier showcase and trading event.

“We’re especially excited to be welcoming the next generation of food start-ups to the event. Over 90 per cent of our retailers are small and medium-sized family businesses. As such we have a strong commitment to supporting entrepreneurialism and we look forward to encouraging the next generation of great Irish success stories,” he said.
