The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) was named the “world’s leading meetings and conference centre” at the World Travel Awards in Vietnam on Sunday. The venue beat previous winners in London, Berlin, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Qatar and Singapore to claim the award.

"We are very proud to be the first Irish venue to take this title home," said CCD chief executive Stephen Meehan.

"This award reinforces for us that we have the privilege of playing a key role in attracting business tourism to the country," said CCD executive chairman Dermod Dwyer.

The CCD opened in September 2010 and is Ireland’s only purpose-built international convention centre, hosting some 1,500 events in its lifetime.
