Westlife member Nicky Byrne and DJ Jenny Greene are to leave RTÉ 2FM with comedian Jennifer Zamparelli to get her own show on the station as part of a scheduling reshuffle.

The pair had presented a 10am weekday show for the last five years. Byrne is joining back up with Westlife for a world tour, while Greene announced she had decided to leave the station “with a very heavy heart” after 12 years.

“Having started off in the evening time and progressing on to a very successful day time show, going back to the evenings on 2FM just doesn’t feel like the right decision for me both professionally and personally,” she said.

Greene is well-known as a DJ off the airwaves and has been involved in a series of concerts in recent years with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Zamparelli, who previously co-presented the earlier Breakfast Republic programme, will from June present a weekday show from 10am to 1pm.

Byrne paid tribute to Greene for helping him during his time with 2FM.

“I am sad to see her leave 2FM and I can only wish her love and happiness and the absolute best in all her future endeavours.”

Dan Healy, the head of 2FM, wished Byrne and Greene the best for the future and thanked them for being a “massive part” of the station for two years.

He said Zamparelli, a who is also a comedian and television presenter, would “appeal to young audiences”.

“ Our audiences have reacted in an overwhelming positive way towards her,” he said.
