Radio 1’s ‘Morning Ireland’ will add a new business news bulletin in the final half hour of the show.

Radio 1 is extending the business news coverage on Morning Ireland from Monday with a new bulletin after the headlines at 8.30am.

The additional update will give the RTÉ news and current affairs programme the ability to report on stock-market movements after trading begins.

The show, which airs from 7am to 9am, will continue to include a daily business feature segment at 7.50am.

RTÉ said its listener research had indicated there was demand for more business news, particularly coverage of small businesses and start-ups.

As part of the changes, Radio 1's earlier business news bulletins will also move from 6.20am to 6.30am during Rising Time and from 7.10am to 7.30am during Morning Ireland.

Sports news, which typically follows the news headlines at 8.30am, will now follow the business bulletin.

Morning Ireland is the most listened-to radio programme in Ireland with an audience of 436,000.

From October 30th, Six-One anchor Bryan Dobson is set to join Morning Ireland, replacing the recently retired Cathal Mac Coille.

The main line-up of alternating presenters is completed by Rachael English, Dr Gavin Jennings and Audrey Carville.
