And the nominees are . . . This year's Marketer of the Year shortlist has been announced and the contenders are Emma Walls, the marketing director of Glenisk; Peter McKenna, the GAA's commercial and stadium director of Croke Park; Tom Keogh from Keogh's Crisps; and a joint nomination for Jim Miley and John Concannon for their work on tourism initiative The Gathering.

The award, which was won last year by Kevin Donnelly, the marketing director of Britvic Ireland, is organised by Marketing.ie and sponsored by marketing recruitment specialists Alternatives, with the judging panel chaired by Dr Damien McLoughlin, professor of marketing at the UCD Smurfit Business School.

Major success
The award, which will be announced on November 13th, will be given to someone who "through the use of strategy, innovation, communications and impact on the target market, has made their brand, product or service a major success".

Concannon, director of market development at Fáilte Ireland, was a previous winner of the title in 2010.
