Communicorp's chief operating officer Caroline Reynolds is set to depart the Denis O'Brien-owned radio group at the end of the month.

It is understood that Ms Reynolds, who was appointed to the position last August, is leaving for another job.

She first joined Communicorp, the company behind the national stations Newstalk and Today FM, in 2014, as director of acquisition and investment, having previously held the role of head of corporate finance with O'Brien's telecoms company Digicel in Jamaica.

No immediate plans

A spokesman for Communicorp said it had no immediate plans to replace Ms Reynolds in the chief operating officer role.

The group, which also owns Spin 1038, Spin South West and Dublin's 98FM in Ireland, has undergone a series of management changes and restructuring throughout 2017 under new chief executive Adrian Serle.

This has involved the centralising of the advertising sales operation for all of its stations, as well as the standing down of certain editorial and management roles such as the chief executive positions at individual stations.

Newstalk's last chief executive Tim Collins, a qualified doctor and barrister as well as a former political advisor, was recently appointed chief executive of Irish Heart, the organisation previously known as the Irish Heart Foundation.
