Lisa Ricciardi, a former executive at Medco Health Solutions, has been appointed as a non-executive director of United Drug, where she will also join the risk, acquisitions and finance committee.

From 2010 to 2012 Ms Ricciardi was senior vice president of business development at Medco Health Solutions, a US pharmacy services company, and prior to this she was a venture partner with Essex Woodlands, a New York based private equity company, following a 19 year career at Pfizer Inc., latterly as senior vice president of licensing and development.

United Drug chairman Peter Gray said that Ms Ricciardi’s “deep experience” in the US healthcare market would be of “of great value to the board and to management as we continue to build our US business, which last year accounted for 26 per cent of operating profits.”

In other directorate changes at the London listed pharmaceutical group, Philip Toomey has assumed the position of senior independent non-executive director with immediate effect, replacing Gary McGann. Mr McGann will continue to serve as a non-executive director, chairman of the remuneration committee and member of each of the nominations committee and the risk, acquisitions and finance committee.
