More than 70 Irish medical technology companies will seek investment from 300 international blue-chip company buyers from 42 countries on Thursday.

Enterprise Ireland's bi-annual Med in Ireland event at the RDS is Ireland's largest medtech event and will be attended by buyers from the USA (40), France (32), the UK (26), China (16), as well as Germany, Switzerland and Austria (25).

This year’s event will for the first time include a dedicated Medtech Innovation Showcase, which will examine what drives the success of Irish companies, from funding to collaboration with the research community.

It will be announced at the event that Meditec Medical has successfully tendered for a "significant contract" with the Boston Children's Hospital to manufacture and supply their mediflex pressure relief mattresses to its entire hospital.

The new product can be used on medical devices, door handles, handrails, sanitary fittings in medical settings such as hospitals to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria and micro-organisms such as MRSA and E. Coli.

Seabrook Technology Group, the Irish-owned manufacturing software specialist, will announce a "significant partnership" with Toolroom Technology to provide a unique end-to-end offering for orthopaedic manufacturers.
