Digital payments app Revolut was hit by major problems on Friday as customers in Ireland and further afield found they were unable to use their account on their smartphones.
On Friday night some services remained completely unavailable while others were hit by a slowdown. Some customers were unable to sign into the app, while others could not make card payments. Some users also found they were unable to transfer money, or top up their accounts via their bank cards. Currency exchange was also affected.
The company’s system status page showed six services were at least partially affected by the outage.
“There are currently issues affecting our app functionalities,” Revolut’s official Twitter account announced on Friday. “We’re already working to have this resolved as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
However, the donations service to the Late Late Toy Show appeal was said to be unaffected. The fintech claims to have 1.5 million Irish customers.
