Debt has been a defining issue in Ireland for the past seven years, and this week it will be the main focus of a conference taking place in Dublin.

The Dublin Debt Conference will examine lessons learned from the past and what may happen in years to come.

Insights will also come from those dealing on the front line with the fallout from the economic crash, and from those in Government and the corporate world grappling with limitless zeros and decisions that can make or break a country.

Keynote

The conference will include panels on personal, corporate and sovereign debt, along with a keynote address from Philippe Legrain, Fellow at the London School of Economics and a former adviser to European Commission president

DFI Consulting director Daniel Curran said Ireland has a wealth of experience, some of it hard fought, surrounding debt, adding, “We can count ourselves among the most experienced in all areas of debt.

“It is a diverse field and we hope that bringing together the various strands of the sector will provide a unique and stimulating experience for delegates and speakers alike.”

Elsewhere, the Bord Gáis Energy leadership conference is taking place at the Aviva Stadium on Thursday.

Irish boxing coach Billy Walsh, former Irish rugby international Ronan O’Gara and Dublin football manager Jim Gavin will be among the line-up of speakers.

Walsh, O’Gara and Gavin will draw on their experiences in top-level high-performance sport and discuss their personal leadership lessons.

In an interactive panel, the trio will also share their advice and insights on how to attract, develop and manage top talent.

The line-up of speakers includes One4All chief executive Michael Dawson, entrepreneur and former Dragons' Den dragon Sean Gallagher and FoodCloud founders Aoibheann O'Brien and Iseult Ward.
