John Coyle, the Central Bank's director of resolution and corporate affairs, is to leave the regulator at the end of this year.

It is understood that Mr Coyle informed the Central Bank of his intention to leave in July. He joined the regulator in September 2014, having previously been chief executive of Standard Bank's operations in the Isle of Man for more than eight years.

It is not clear if Mr Coyle has lined up another role for when he departs the Central Bank but his family continues to live in the Isle of Man.

Mr Coyle has worked on a number of projects at the Central Bank since arriving in Ireland. These include the establishment of a national resolution authority, the setting up of a a central credit register, and the bank's three-year strategic plan, which is due to be published in the coming weeks.
