The Central Bank has issued a warning about an unauthorised investment firm, which it says has cloned the details of an existing company.

Authorities said the firm calling itself Strategic Active Funds plc had stolen the registration number of an authorised firm with the same name with which is has no connection.

The bank warned that consumers should be aware that if they deal with an unauthorised entity then they are not eligible for compensation.

It urged anyone offered financial services via cold calls or email to make additional checks to ensure the entity they are dealing with is authorised.
