Survey detects jump in job vacancies for professionals

Recruitment agency Morgan McKinley says job opportunities rose by 16% in July

The number of job opportunities for professionals in Ireland rose sharply in July, according to recruitment agency Morgan McKinley.

In its latest employment monitor, the agency said just under 13,000 roles were advertised during the month, representing a 16 per cent jump on the previous month.

At the same time, it noted 1 per cent decrease in the number of professionals entering the jobs market compared with the same month last year.

Its report indicates July was an exceptionally busy month for IT professionals, with 25% more IT roles on offer in July than in June.

There was also growth in the number of new roles in the banking and financial services sectors.
