German discounter Lidl looks set to enlarge its Thomas Street store in Dublin after buying the freehold interest of its own building as well as two adjoining units rented by Spar and EuroGiant.
Lidl paid in excess of €6 million for the three adjoining ground-floor premises which are producing a rent roll of €480,000.
Lidl accounted for about 60 per cent of the rent roll.
Colm Lundy of agents Coldwell Banker Commercial handled the sale for which there were several bidders.
He said it felt “a bit déjà vu” as he had negotiated the original lease for Lidl several years ago when he was property manager with the German company.
