Accountant Alan Hynes’ appeal against a ruling barring him from the profession is likely to go ahead this week.
Last year the Chartered Accountants’ Regulatory Board (CARB) excluded Mr Hynes from the Institute of Chartered Accountants following a hearing sparked by complaints from investors who lost more than €18 million on a number of his property ventures.
He plans to challenge the ruling and the CARB confirmed at the weekend that hearings are due to begin before the board’s appeal tribunal tomorrow, Tuesday 8 March.
It is understood that Mr Hynes sought to have the appeal deferred. The CARB refused to comment on this.
