Nespresso brews up record Irish revenues of €33.5m

Company’s growth boosted by e-commerce and ‘ high demand from lockdown consumers’

Nespresso brewed up record Irish revenues last year as its sales soared by 34 per cent to £28.7 million (€33.5 million). Accounts for Nespresso UK Ltd show its Irish business outperformed the UK in terms of growth and recorded average weekly revenues of €645,612 here in 2020. Nespresso sales of £28.7 million last year followed sales of £21.43 million in 2019 – an increase of £7.27 million.

The directors said the coffee company’s growth was boosted by e-commerce along with “a high demand from lockdown consumers”.

Nespresso’s flagship outlet is located on Dublin’s Duke Street and it also operates boutiques at Brown Thomas outlets.

In total, the Swiss-headquartered conglomerate, Nestle owned coffee maker operates seven outlets and employs 63 staff here.

Nespresso UK recorded pre-tax profits of £11.7 million in 2020 from its UK and Irish sales.

The Irish sales made up 10pc of total sales of £287.7 million across Ireland and the UK last year.
