A Donegal-based food technology company has landed a €2 million contract with Musgraves.

The deal will see Kelsius's wireless FoodCheck technology rolled out in SuperValu and Centra stores across the State. Between them, the two brand stores operate 680 outlets in the Republic.

Workers in store use sensors to ensure food is being maintained at correct temperatures, with the data being recorded on a web-based system. Figures that do not conform with required regulatory standards generate alerts, which are sent to store supervisors and managers by way of text message.

The FoodCheck system will replace the paper-based monitoring record, which requires more time to carry out and is more prone to human error.
