FAIRYHOUSE IS pretty much a local track for the north Dublin team of trainer Paul Stafford and jockey Conor Maxwell, so Will Jamie Run can prove a very popular winner of today’s handicap hurdle.

Will Jamie Runwill be having his first start over hurdles in a couple of years, but he looks attractively weighted considering his current form.

The nine-year-old boasts a 50 per cent strike rate in his six starts over fences since returning from a year’s lay-off and he landed a good chase at Thurles last time off an official chase rating of 121.

That makes his mark today look interesting, especially since he was able to win a maiden hurdle at Navan as a younger horse.

Given the ammunition Stafford has shown he knows how to get the job done from his Oldtown yard, while 22-year-old Maxwell had the boost of a Grand National Trial win at Punchestown nine days ago.

The 2006 Cheltenham festival winner Nicanorwill hardly get a better chance to break his duck over fences than in the Beginners Chase.

His short head second to An Cathaoir Mor last time reads pretty well now in the light of that horse’s subsequent Arkle success, while his main rival Kempes has not set the world in fire in two chase starts to date.

Got The Urgewon easily at Limerick last time and can confirm that form with Mont Tresor in the handicap chase, while Character Actor should be hard to beat in the bumper on the evidence of his run behind Acey last time.

Arvika Ligeonniere recouped bumper losses in a hurdle last time, but the drop in trip for the novice hurdle could catch him out if Summit Meetingreturns to his best.

INSPECTION:

There will be an inspection at Fairyhouse today at 7.30am due to the threat of overnight frost.
