Club career: Spent 10 seasons at Everton, following a £100,000 move from Liverpool in 1982, winning League and European Cup Winners' Cup medals during Howard Kendall's hugely successful first spell as manager. Signed by Kevin Keegan on a free transfer for Newcastle in February 1992 and finished his playing career at Blackpool. International career: Born in Builth Wells, Wales, but declared for the Republic of Ireland, making his debut in 1983 when he came on as a substitute for Tony Grealish in a European Championship qualifier against Holland at Dalymount Park. Won his 46th and last cap in 1993. Highlight: Scored the Republic's first ever World Cup finals' goal when he equalised against England in Cagliari, in the opening match of the 1990 finals in Italy.
