Irish senior women's coach Riet Kuper has named her squad for next month's European Nations' Cup finals in Germany and has included four of last season's under-21 panel - Linda Caulfield (Trinity), Pamela Magill (Pegasus), Jill Orbinson (Portadown) and Caitriona Carey (Hermes).
Magill now seems set to fill the defensive role of her Ulster team-mate Julie Stewart, the one surprise omission from the 18-player squad. The Ards captain, who has over 80 senior caps to her name, has agreed, however, to go on stand-by for the squad.
For Caulfield, a 20-year-old from Wexford town, it's a wonderful turn-around in fortunes since she suffered the heartbreak of being left out of last summer's squad for the Under-21 European Championships.
"I was devastated then but I just had to try and be mentally tough enough to go on. My club-mates and coach (at Trinity) were great to me so I wasn't left to feel sorry for myself at any stage. But this makes up for everything," she said.
