RACING:THE MASSIVE fire-power of Aidan O'Brien's Ballydoyle team took another step in gearing up for the 2012 campaign when the classic favourite Camelot led a team of 44 horses that worked after racing at the Curragh yesterday.

On the same day that the champion trainer dispatched So You Think and five others for Saturday’s Dubai World Cup extravaganza, O’Brien’s major three-year- old hopes for the season used the Curragh to step up their classic preparation. Camelot, under Joseph O’Brien, moved sweetly in a mile work-out to come past a group of 10 others, while the trainer’s son was also on board the unbeaten Maybe, who also impressed in another group.

In all, four groups of 11 horses appeared, with Ryan Moore on board Power in a separate group that included the Middle Park winner Crusade. Camelot is just 7 to 1 with one bookmaker to complete the 2,000 Guineas-Derby double, and 16 to 1 to become the first Triple Crown winner since Nijinsky. “At the moment he is where we want him to be. He’s a possible for the Guineas, but there’s nothing definite yet,” O’Brien said. “Joseph was happy with him, and also with Maybe who looks to have done well physically. Newmarket is a possible for them all at this stage.”
