Limerick 2-1 Cork City

Limerick got back to winning ways at Thomond Park in a Munster derby that provided plenty of talking points with three excellent second-half goals and three magnificent saves by the respective goalkeepers in the first half.

To round off the drama Cork’s Daryl Horgan was sent off for a foul on man of the match Shaun Kelly.

Two superb saves by Mark McNulty, both to deny Craig Curran, highlighted the the first 35 minutes and in between Limerick’s Barry Ryan brought off an amazing block when Danny Morrissey let fly from 30 yards.

The game badly needed a goal and it fell to the outstanding Curran to do so for Limerick after 56 minutes. He thundered a shot from 35 yards past McNulty.

Joe Gamble and Rory Gaffney combined before the latter’s shot was saved and the ball broke to Shaun Kelly who again beat McNulty.

Cork made it a tense final five minutes after Danny Morrissey scored a splendid goal but Limerick held on to make it two wins and a draw from their three games against Cork this season.
