Bray Wanderers chairman Denis O'Connor is adamant players and staff are not owed any wages as the club plot a recovery in the wake of Trevor Croly's sudden resignation.

The players released a statement following Saturday night's win in Limerick complaining of delayed payments.

Although O'Connor yesterday insisted the "clerical issues" leading to three players receiving late payments had been rectified within 24 hours, the squad believe "trust between the players and club officials is beyond repair". Club captain David Cassidy sat in the stand for Saturday's game but was consulting with the temporary coaching staff by telephone throughout the 90 minutes. He claims there is a lot of frustration within the playing staff.

O’Connor, who is spearheading a plan to but the club, expressed his anger at the players’ statement. In addition, despite Croly quitting just two months into a three-year contract, the club says the matter may not be finished. “A good win by the squad is forgotten by the timing of such a statement,” he said. “The players have been invited to and have agreed to a ‘clear the air’ meeting early this week and I am confident we can address all issues successfully.

“The club are considering the position as regards Trevor Croly and his contract of employment. We will issue a statement at the appropriate time.”

David Scully grabbed a last-minute winner for Bray, to leave Limerick still waiting for their first win of the season.
