Lionel Messi will be part of a star-studded Barcelona squad in Dublin next Saturday, with the FAI confirming that the Argentine will be involved in the International Champions Cup clash with Celtic at the Aviva Stadium.
Four-time winner of the Fifa Ballon d'Or, Messi will spearhead the Barcelona squad, which also includes notable stars such as Luis Suarez and Arda Turan.
Celtic kicked off their involvement in this year’s tournament last Saturday when hosting English Premier League champions Leicester City in Glasgow. After a 1-1 draw the game had to be decided by a penalty shoot-out, which the Foxes won.
Cork native Eoghan O’Connell was on target in that game and he will be part of the travelling squad who will take on Barcelona.
This game will be the first of two International Champions Cup clashes in Ireland this summer as Celtic also take on Inter Milan in Thomond Park on Saturday, August 13th.
Tickets are still available for the game at the Aviva Stadium through Ticketmaster.ie.
