The defending champions Real Madrid have been drawn to face city rivals Atlético Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals in a repeat of last year's final.
Real triumphed 4-1 in extra time last season but needed an injury time equaliser from Sergio Ramos before goals from Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Cristiano Ronaldo wrapped up La Décima – their much coveted 10th title.
Atlético will take heart, however, from the teams’ meetings this season. Diego Simeone’s side have beaten Real, who are attempting to become the first side in history to successfully defend the Champions League crown, twice in the league and also knocked them out of the Copa del Rey in January.
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain's reward for conquering Chelsea is a tie against Barcelona, having emerged from the same group as the Catalans in qualifying, while Porto will face Bayern Munich, a repeat of the 1987 European Cup final, which was won by the Portuguese side, and Juventus have been drawn against Monaco.
