Leinster Senior A's top four teams meet Senior B opposition this weekend in the second round of the Coca Cola Leinster Senior Cup, with the only all-Senior A clash taking place at Serpentine Avenue between Pembroke Wanderers and Genesis.

Senior A leaders Loreto meet UCD, who currently lead Senior B, but whether or not the students can summon up the energy to cause an upset at Belfield, after playing six intervarsity games in three days midweek, remains to be seen. Hermes, who have yet to drop a point in league hockey this season, take on Muckross II at Milltown and at the same venue Old Alexandra, on a winning roll since their defeat by Loreto on the opening day of the season, meet Avoca.

The Muckross first team will hope for a slightly less dramatic outing against Pembroke Wanderers II, last season's Irish Junior Cup winners, compared to Monday's night's league game against Railway Union, when both teams were forced to run for cover when thunder and lightning forced the game to be abandoned at Park Avenue. Like UCD Trinity must draw on their powers of recovery, after their Chilean Cup exploits, in time for their tie against Loreto II in Santry while Glenanne, still without a win in the league this season, play Maids at Grange Road. At least one Senior B side is guaranteed a place in the third round - the division's fourth-placed Aer Lingus meet second-placed Corinthian at their ALSAA ground.
