MEN'S HOCKEY: THE INTERVIEW process has been going on for the past number of weeks for a men's and women's national coach.

Following the departures of men’s coach Paul Revington and women’s coach Gene Muller shortly after the summer Olympic qualifying tournaments in UCD and Belgium, the Irish Hockey Association have been working to replace both.

A number of candidates have been identified and interviewed and it is expected that coaches will be named in the near future.

The men’s national side will also be going to Argentina to the Champions Challenge, having raised just under €60,000 in one of the most successful money-raising campaigns in recent years.

The IHA have assured all who donated that all of the money will go to the men’s team and any surplus will go towards the men’s World League event in February and that none of it will go towards the general running of the association. The team will be competing in the Hockey Champions Challenge 1 event, which is taking place from November 24th to December 2nd and where world ranking points are on offer.

“On behalf of the Irish men’s team I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart all those who have contributed. We have been told that we have inspired people through our performances . . . right now we are truly inspired by you!” said Irish captain Ronan Gormley.
