15 Joaquin Tuculet (Jaguares)
Age: 28 Height: 6’0’’ Weight: 92 kg (14 st 7 lb) Caps: 50 Points: 75
Can play fullback, wing and centre or even outhalf. Likes to come into the attacking formations and popped up to score a try against Italy last week. A smart and well rounded player with good kicking.
14 Ramiro Moyano (Jaguares)
Age: 27 Height: 5’11’’ Weight: 85kg (13st 5lbs) Caps: 8 Points: 10
He maybe light and small for the modern winger but Moyano has a bit of gas as most Argentinean wide men do. He came through the age groups in Argentina. Often a fullback, he also played the Sevens circuit.
13 Matias Moroni (Jaguares)
Age: 26 Height: 6’1’’ Weight: 91kg (14st 4lbs) Caps: 30 Points: 35
Another Sevens player he’s a rangy player, who competed in the summer Olympic games in Rio 2016. He played in the same position partnering Hernandez against Ireland two years ago in Wales.
12 S Gonzalez Iglesias (Jaguares)
Age: 29 Height: 5’10’’ Weight: 87kg (13st 10lb) Caps: 37 Points: 123
Another who has mostly played at outhalf and as such his handling skills and play making ability in traffic will see him good at inside centre. Has captained sides too and brings experience to the midfield.
11 Emiliano Boffelli (Jaguares)
Age: 22 Height: 6’3’’ Weight: 91kg (14st 4lb) Caps: 10 Points: 30
Another Jaguares player, he is one coach Daniel Hourcarde is looking at for the Tokyo World Cup. He has pace but also size in his favour and has been a regular with his club side. Good under the high ball too.
10 Nicolas Sanchez (Jaguares)
Age: 29 Height: 5’10’’ Weight: 83kg (13st 1lb) Caps: 61 Points: 599
His kicking needs no introduction to Ireland as he played in France with Toulon and Bordeaux in the Top 14. A quality outhalf, who can kick territory or run the game. Top scorer at 2015 RWC with 97 points.
9 Martin Landajo (Jaguares)
Age: 29 Height: 5’9’’ Weight: 82kg (12st 13lb) Caps: 77 Points: 30
Can cause problems around the fringes at the breakdown. Has quick feet and good vision of when to go or pass the ball out and a nose too for the whitewash. All in all a tricky and clever package.
8 Tomas Lezana (Jaguares)
Age: 23 Height: 6’2’’ Weight: 105 kg (16 st 7 lb) Caps: 20 Points: 5
Returns to the side after a lightening trip home following the death of his grandmother. A fine athlete who will pop up in outside channels. Hugely impressive with ball in hand and a little space. He has a step too.
7 Marcos Kremer (Jaguares)
Age: 20 Height: 6’5’’ Weight: 115kg (18st 1lb) Caps: 11 Points: 5
Made international debut before making the age grade teams, having been named in Argentina’s 2016 squad at 18-years-old. Hugely imposing player, who can play lock. Has the physical presence of a seasoned player.
6 Pablo Matera (Jaguares)
Age: 24 Height: 6’4’’ Weight: 110kg 17st 5lb) Caps: 10 Points: 5
As a Leicester player he said all he really enjoyed was a good scrum, a good maul and the physical parts of the game. Now with the Jaguares his bullocking style and abrasive play makes him a hugely effective backrow.
5 Tomas Lavanini (Jaguares)
Age: 24 Height: 6’7’’ Weight: 130kg (20st 7lb) Caps: 37 Points: 10
Another of the outsized younger players on the team, he played a year with racing ‘92 before returning home to the Jaguares. Hits big and very aggressive at cleaning out. Not afraid to play the enforcer role for the team.
4 Matias Alemanno (Jaguares)
Age: 25 Height: 6.6’’ Weight: 117kg (18st 6lb) Caps: 40 Points: 20
Another mobile forward who can be found taking up positions in the outside channels. He is also used also for the crash ball and effective at breaking tackles. Along with Lavanini is also a strong lineout option.
3 Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro (Jaguares)
Age: 28 Height: 6’2’’ Weight: 121kg (19st 1lb) Caps: 40 Points: 5
Propped in Dragons and Lyon for a year before returning the Jaguares. Apart from the set piece like most modern props he’s active around the pitch. Forceful tackling often knocks back players.
2 Agustin Creevy (Jaguares, captain)
Age: 32 Height: 5’11’’ Weight: 110kg (17st 5lbs) Caps: 70 Points: 15
Debuted as a 20-year-old flanker before dramatically switching to hooker. Now he is a hugely mobile frontrow. Excellent around the pitch with good ball skills and offloading. Hence ‘Sonny Bill’ Creevy.
1 Santiago Garcia Botta (Jaguares)
Age: 25 Height: 6’0’’ Weight: 110kg (17st 2lbs) Caps: 21 Points: 5
The same frontrow that lost to England, the team struggles in asset piece area they once ruled. A utility prop who can play both sides of the scrum will see Furlong as one of his toughest challenges of the year.
