Ireland will face Wales in the knockout stages of the Junior Rugby World Cup after finishing as runners-up in Pool C.

Nigel Carolan’s men can no longer win the tournament as England earned the last spot in the semi-finals but victory over Wales, next Monday in Viadana, would see them into a play-off for fifth place against either Australia or Scotland.

Wales comfortably beat Ireland 19-12 during their Six Nations meeting last March.

South Africa secured the top seed with a 46-13 victory over Australia so they play England with New Zealand against France in the other semi-final.
