RUBI LIGHT’S return to action will have to wait a little longer as a morning workout on the Curragh yesterday resulted in Rob Hennessy’s stable star being ruled out of Saturday’s Betfair Chase at Haydock.

The high-class chaser missed out on the JNwine Champion Chase at Down Royal due to a blood problem and a clash with Long Run and Kauto Star this weekend looks to have come too soon for him.

Hennessy reported: “We went to the Curragh this morning and while he has been off the antibiotics for a while and has seemed to be getting better – Andrew (Lynch) just thought he wasn’t 100 per cent.

“I’ve entered him for the John Durkan and we probably will go for the Lexus. Depending on how that goes the Ryanair or the Gold Cup at Cheltenham will be our target.”
