The impression that Quinze made when winning at Galway last Thursday means that few will be willing to oppose him when he makes a quick reappearance at Roscommon this evening.

Pat Hughes's high class young hurdler returned from an unhappy summer break to absolutely bolt up in a 12 furlong handicap, and although the runner-up, Cohiba, has been beaten since, there should be significant improvement in Quinze.

Formerly trained by Sir Mark Prescott, Quinze's summer break on grass was plagued by a virus, which left Hughes anxious about whether the horse would ever return to the racecourse.

As it as, Quinze returned to work only three weeks before Galway and still won impressively. Johnny Murtagh again takes the ride and the partnership look an irresistible bet to beat the topweight Biddy Blackhurst.

Murtagh will also be fancying his chances on Quinstars in a rather weak looking Abbery Maiden. The son of Thatching made an adequate debut when runner-up to Rashay at Galway last week and there should be improvement from that.

Murtagh and John Oxx run Deysaniya in the Fuerty Maiden, but this race can go to a smaller outfit via Battle On. Frank Ennis's horse was no match for Nicola Bella at Gowran but was very much a contender when again filling the runner-up spot behind Foreign Love at Naas. A repeat of that sort of form should give him the winning of this.

The first three-year-old hurdle of the season opens proceedings, and although these horse's jumping must be taken on trust, Jessica Harrington usually has her horses well schooled and Have Merci's handicap mark of 83 makes him the highest rated of these on the flat.

Adirpour couldn't justify some strong market support at Bellewstown behind Eloquent Way but looks worth another chance in the Glebe Handicap.
