Our Lady’s Templemore and St Fintan’s CBS Doon power into Dr Harty Cup quarter-finals

Dungarvan CBS join them in last eight

A good second-half performance from Our Lady's Secondary School Templemore helped them past CBS High School Clonmel and into the quarter-finals of the Dr Harty Cup at Cashel yesterday.

Despite trailing by 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time in the winter-take-all Group 4 tie, Templemore made full use of the wind in the second half and John Joe Ryan’s goal was the key score in a 1-15 to 0-9 win.

Brian McGrath, Dylan Moloney and Colin O’Riordan all featured in the turnaround, while Brendan Martin and Danny Owens had helped Clonmel into the early lead.

St Fintan's CBS of Doon are also into the last eight after a third-quarter blitzing of Castletroy College to claim a 3-12 to 1-14 win in Group 1.

While Tom Morrissey and Barry Nash impressed for Castletroy as they led for much of the first half, goals from Joe Lonergan and David Buckley helped Doon to go in level at half-time and another Lonergan goal and points from Patrick Cummins and Dean Coleman helped to push on. Aaron Kennedy did give Castletroy some brief hope late on with a goal.
